Therapist in Marin for Chronic Illness, Health Anxiety, Insomnia, & Caregiver Burnout
A More Personal Approach to Managing Complex Health Challenges

Living with a chronic illness, caring for someone you love, or simply trying to function after months of poor sleep can affect nearly every part of your life.
It can change how you work, how you relate to other people, and even how you see yourself.
At Coyne Operated Psychotherapy, I bring decades of clinical experience together with a practical, highly personalized approach—helping you make sense of what you’re going through, feel more grounded, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Therapy That Looks at More Than the Diagnosis
Together, we can work toward greater acceptance, better coping, clearer priorities, and meaningful action, even when circumstances themselves cannot be neatly fixed.
Therapy for Insomnia
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), examines the thoughts, behaviors, routines, and patterns that may be perpetuating insomnia.
The goal isn’t only better sleep, but greater confidence in your ability to sleep again.
What Getting Started Looks Like
Step 1: Free 20 Minute Consultation
We start with a brief virtual consultation. You can tell me what has been happening, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
02
Step 2: Your First Appointment
Your first full session generally includes a diagnostic interview. We’ll explore what brought you to therapy, current symptoms, triggers, what you’ve already tried, and the wider context of your health, work, relationships, and day-to-day life.
03
Step 3: A Personalized Direction Forward
From there, we develop treatment around your individual needs and goals. Early therapy usually focuses on symptom relief and practical coping strategies. Over time, the work expands into deeper concerns about trauma and loss, identity and grief, personal values, and what makes life meaningful.

I’ve worked as a therapist since 1995, with much of my career spent in medical clinics, hospitals, and interdisciplinary healthcare environments.
My own personal healing journey and many years of mindfulness practice shaped how I approach therapy—with an understanding that physical health, emotional well-being, and how we experience our bodies are deeply connected.
Clients often tell me they appreciate being genuinely listened to. That may sound simple, but it’s also the foundation of good therapy.
No clinical technique helps if you don’t feel heard, respected, and understood. I try to bring kindness, thoughtfulness, practical experience, and, where appropriate, a little humor to the room.
